Tablecloth "Do you like my Gucci sweater?" Hella Jongerius

Nice new drop of this great tablecloth woven in the Dutch Textile museum. In 2002 Hella Jongerius designed this damask tablecloth "Do you like my Gucci sweater?" for the Dutch Textile Museum. Her work which arises from the design studio JongeriusLab is a result of the combination of craft and industry, high-tech and low-tech. Hella Jongerius is not looking for smooth or polished, she likes a clear “statement”. She refers with her design of the damask table set to the fashion world, dominated by skinny models, who often show a form of anorexia. The title is an obvious reference to the culture where appearance is paramount. Pictured are pointy hip bones of girls who find themselves as attractive. At the head of the tablecloth a list of dishes is shown with associated calories while the napkins contain "etched" drawings of hearts, each with a different table calories. The raw theme is put to the frayed seams. Now available in our Wannekes online store.
